Clean Wisconsin, along with the Ho-Chunk Nation through their representative Midwest Environmental Advocates, made the following statement after the Administrative Law Judge ruled to invalidate a permit issued by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to frac sand company Meteor Timber to fill 16.25 acres of pristine wetland in Monroe County:
“This is a significant victory for the people of Wisconsin, our pristine wetlands, and the integrity of our environmental laws. The decision confirms that DNR did not follow the permitting process required by state law. This decision reinforces DNR’s duty to protect our natural resources for the public. We will continue to defend the public’s right to protection of our natural resources in the legislative, agency, and judicial arenas.”
