An evening for public health and the environment

, By Clean Wisconsin

Twice a year, Clean Wisconsin proudly hosts the Doug La Follette Environmental Speaker Series for the purpose of bringing together experts, professionals, and advocates to discuss the most pressing environmental issues. Previous topics have been wide-ranging, encompassing everything from natural climate solutions to efforts to protect Wisconsin’s water resources. However, the most recent iteration of the Doug La Follette Environmental Speaker Series examined the powerful intersection between public health and the Environment.

Generously hosted by the Medical College of Wisconsin on August 28th, guests enjoyed a free cocktail hour before listening to the insightful and inspiring discussions by our featured panelists. We’d like to thank our speakers: Christa Wagner PhD, Founding Center Director at the Medical College of Wisconsin; Langston Verdin, MPH, Founder & Co-Executive Director of MKE FreshAir Collective; Kaya Rinderknecht, Population Service Health Fellow of Clean Wisconsin; and Raphie Torralba, Population Health Service Fellow from Sixteenth Street Community Health Center. Their conversation covered everything from policy formation and effective storytelling to reflecting on environmental justice. The evening concluded with the panel advising the audience on the best ways to make a difference. To hear the full conversation, visit our YouTube channel.

Thank you to all those who attended and helped make the night a success! Your support allows us to continue uplifting these important conversations and dialogues about protecting our clean air and water. Keep an eye out for more information on our next Doug La Follette Environmental Speaker Series in Madison that will take place in November. We hope to see you there!
