Clean Wisconsin is a nonprofit environmental advocacy organization located in Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Our mission is to combat climate change and pollution in our air, water and land, and to ensure a healthy future for every Wisconsin community. We are currently seeking a half-time Paralegal for a position to be filled immediately in the Madison area.
The Paralegal will support our Legal Department with case development and management. This will include substantive legal research and drafting, as well as record organization, coordinating with subject-area experts and partners, and filing legal documents in court and administrative cases. Environmental law often involves complex, technical records and multi-party litigation. A successful applicant will be efficient, organized, and willing to learn about environmental issues relevant to our work. Responsibilities:
- Summarizing cases and preparing reports for attorneys
- Conducting research, investigating facts, and assisting attorneys in developing legal arguments
- Drafting legal documents such as contracts, joint defense/common interest agreements, depositions, discovery, and pleadings
- Preparing and filing documents with courts and administrative tribunals
- Organizing and archiving documents related to completed and ongoing cases
Qualifications:
- Paralegal certification
- Experience with Microsoft Office and legal research databases
- One-year paralegal experience (preferred)
- Attention to detail
- Excellent time management skills
Compensation:
Salary range for the position is $28,000-$35,00 annually (20 hrs/week), dependent upon experience. Benefits package includes Health insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with a 6% employer match, paid sick leave and vacation, life insurance, and short- and long-term disability insurance. This role is flexible and has the option to work remotely.
